Bought a Açaí grande com morangos e Leite condensado of frickin course
I love talking to family and friends on Pday!
SATURDAY
Contract day!
During class, my district 'signed' a contract stating that we are only allowed to speak Portuguese to the best of our ability throughout each day! It's very difficult with a limited vocabulary, but we learn new words every day!
SUNDAY
Here in Brazil they fast from Lunch on Saturday to Lunch on Sunday! It's very different, going to bed "com fome", but it definitely helps to complete a full 24 hour fast! I had a lot to fast for, so I was grateful for the oportunidade!
MONDAY
Just normal classes and stuff, just 100% in Portuguese
My companions and I made a fun video on Facebook about what we believe! (apologies in advance to any portuguese speakers hahaha)
I only have Facebook for a couple more days then I go to WhatsApp. I don't know about the Messenger situtation, so tune in for next week's email for my first couple days in the FIELD!!
TUESDAY
Normal classes again!
Our language instructor sent us updates on the USA v Brasil Olympic Basketball game hahah he wasn't super happy.
"If Lebron gets tired then he fetching gets subbed in with KD" - Irmão Cerqueira
Got dunced because I spoke some English without asking permission hahaha
WEDNESDAY
Amazing Devotional with Patriarch Kikuchi and his wife! They both spoke on how to be a good missionary... perfect!
Irma Kikuchi spoke about 5 points:
Study, Obedience, Preparation, Learn how to Teach, and Be excited! She also shared the John 21:15-17 story I typed up in my last email. Amazing!
Patriarch Kikuchi told us to "Be good missionaries even if the Mission President was traded for a bunch of bananas", pretty much be a good missionary regardless of your President.
He also emphasized that it's not "MY mission", it's the SAVIOR's mission that I have the opportunity to serve. I serve the way he would, not the other way around. We are representatives of HIM.
He also challenged us to start reading "Jesus the Christ" by Talmage. I've always wanted to read that book, and I was ASTOUNDED to find that it's available in GOSPEL LIBRARY! So I made a study plan in GL and have been reading it. ITS INCREDIBLE. Barley into Chapter 4 and my mind is blown. Please read it!!
THURSDAY
Weird temple day!
Instead of early morning, we left after lunch. Grateful for that because I didn't have to eat a tiny breakfast and then get back at one.
Anyways, we had PhysActivity in the morning, then read some more JtC, then left for the temple at 11:45. It hit us, this was most likely the last time we would see the Campinas Temple! So sad... its so pretty: arches, pink accents on the windows, corridor-like celestial room, moving rooms during endowments, etc. Gonna miss it. So grateful for a temple in my mission!
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT
Got hit with the 2 Timothy 4 during Personal Study and its a BANGER!
In 2 Timothy 4:1-8, Paul urges Timothy to spread the word, no matter the circumstances. It's a tough assignment, but someone's gotta step up.
We're living in a world where people are drifting away from the truth and embracing false narratives. That's why we need to be bold and share God's love and truth with them.
It won't be a cakewalk, though. We'll face obstacles, criticism, and hard times. But we can't let that stop us. We need to persevere, even when it's tough or unpopular.
Paul knew this struggle firsthand. He faced incredible challenges, but he stayed the course and finished strong. And that's what we can do too. Study the path of Paul! Gospel Library has really cool videos about it!
Let's take this testimony from Paul and share the Gospel with passion, conviction, and purpose!
Can't wait to tell yall about my days in the field in the next email!! Love you all so so much, praying for you guys, read your scritpures, say your prayers, and find ways to show love DAILY!!
