Christ Is Our Hope

Whats up everybody!! This email is gonna be a bit different too, just a recap of the past two weeks and I promise next week will be back to normal!! Let get started!!

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT
I would like to share this short exerpt from For the Strength of Youth, March 2024!!

"After writing about his father’s passing, Nephi wrote, 
“Nevertheless, notwithstanding the great goodness of the Lord, in showing me his great and marvelous works, my heart exclaimeth: O wretched man that I am! Yea, my heart sorroweth because of my flesh; my soul grieveth because of mine iniquities. I am encompassed about, because of the temptations and the sins which do so easily beset me. And when I desire to rejoice, my heart groaneth because of my sins” (2 Nephi 4:17–19). "
"This is Nephi we’re talking about—the same person who rescued the brass plates from Laban, made a bow from scratch in the wilderness, and built a ship without ever having built one before. He had a testimony of the Lord’s goodness; even so, he felt inadequate because of his sins and weaknesses. So what are we to do? If our Book of Mormon hero struggled with feelings of guilt and inadequacy, what can we do when we feel the same way?
"As Nephi is lamenting, he says, “Nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted. My God hath been my support” (2 Nephi 4:19–20). 
"After this shift in mindset, our scripture hero is no longer focused on the anguish he feels from his mistakes. Instead, he rejoices in his Savior! Nephi says, “Rejoice, O my heart, and cry unto the Lord, and say: O Lord, I will praise thee forever; yea, my soul will rejoice in thee, my God, and the rock of my salvation” (2 Nephi 4:30). Like Nephi, you can find mercy, forgiveness, and peace through Jesus Christ. You may not feel like you can give yourself grace, but there is One who will."
"So when you feel so low that you don’t see a way to overcome your sins and mistakes, know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have never stopped loving you. Put your focus on your Savior, and He can help you overcome both your sins and your guilt."

JESUS CHRIST IS OUR HOPE, TRUST IN HIM, FOLLOW IN HIS WAYS, AND STRIVE TO BE LIKE HIM!!

RECAP:
I'll be staying in Caucaia 1 for another 5 weeks with Elder Ferreira! Next transfer is on Dec. 11th.
Two weeks ago my companion, Elder Ferreira, was asked to participate in filming a short documentary/reality show for the Church here in Brasil, just a sneakpeek into the life of a missionary!! While he was doing that deep in São Paulo, I stayed in Caucaia with my District Leader Elder Madsen and his junior companion, Elder Crow for two days! It was super fun, we went to training all the way in São Paulo on Monday where I participated in the Training for Trainers even though I'm not training anybody haha (yet). The next day, we went to the Temple and had a wonderful endowment session!! 

I turned 19! On my birthday I received the best Bday present ever: Three of our investigators accepted the invitation to be baptized on Saturday, November 16th! So exciting! The first baptisms in over a year for this ward!! So grateful to be a part of this work!!
Thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes I love you guys so much!

Helped one of our members kill and butcher a pig!! Awesome!!

On Monday, the 11th, I went with Elder Ferreira this time to participate in the filming and was an extra! I also filmed Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok ads so if you're ever surfing the Brasilian internet you might see me!!

I first read the chapter out loud in English, listen to it in Portuguese, then read it out loud in Portuguese. This is the chapter where the Liahona is discovered, Nephi breaks his bow, Ishmael dies, contention arises, and the Lord intervenes. I Forgot What Week It Is, And I Don't Have Time To Look Lol

Whats up yalll!! So sorry for not sending an email last week, só much going on!! Maria Eduarda got baptized and we are so happy for her!! Otávio will be baptized this Sunday and he's super hyped!! Today we had the opportunity to hear from Elder Gary E. Stevenson, he spoke to only our mission! Including him, 5 General Authorities were there! He spoke on Being a Lifelong Disciple of Jesus Christ!! Using these three things:: 1. Prayer. Constant, Daily prayer 2. Reading the Scriptures, Daily 2. Holding a Current temple recommend and going to the Temple as often as your circumstances permit I invite you to do what Elder Stevenson told us to do!! Love you guys so much!!

Happy Mother's Day to all who bear the sacred title of Mother!! Especially to my wonderful Mother, who I love so dearly!! PENSAMENTO ESPIRITUAL  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mother dear, I love you so.  Your happy, smiling face  Is such a joy to look at;  It makes home a lovely place.
